1、做主語
相當於名詞的功能。如：To live of money is the root of evil.這個句子中to live of money是不定式短語做主語。
例句：
To see is to believe． 眼見為實。 To act like that is foolish． 這樣做是愚蠢的
2、做表語：
a teacher.不定式to become a teacher放在was 後面。
My chief purpose is to point out the difficulties of the matter.
我的主要目的是指出這件事的困難。
What I would suggest is to put off the meeting.
我建議推遲會議。
3、做賓語
例如：I try to keep that in mind.在這裡to keep that in mind做try的賓語。

4 、做賓語的補足語
