一般來說，英語的及物動詞才能帶賓語。但是，在英語的一些形容詞的結構中，這些形容詞似乎是可以帶賓語的。
這是很有用，很好用的英語結構，因為，它們跟漢語是差不多的。

I am afraid he won’t come.
我恐怕他不會來了。【英漢的結構差不多】
am afraid【be afraid】 可以被看成是一個及物動詞，帶賓語從句he won’t come.
不過，這種結構只能帶賓語從句，要帶名詞，必須加介詞，比如of.
例如：
I am afraid the dog.[錯]
I am afraid of the dog.
類似的形容詞，例子組成一個故事：
1.glad 高興
“I am glad 【that】you have come.”said my brother.
2.proud 驕傲
I am proud that we can arrive in time
我很驕傲，我們能及時到達。
3.sorry 難過

But our brother will be satisfied that we are often late.

I am aware that we have to pay this time.
我意識到這一次我們還得付錢。
13.annoyed
We don’t feel annoyed that he is laughing at us.
我們沒有因為他在嘲笑我們而感到惱怒。
14.confident
We pretend to be confident that we have done something right
我們裝出很出很自信的樣子，我們已經走了一步好棋。
15.convinced
We are convinced that， in fact， our brother is laughing himself
我們相信實際上我們哥哥在嘲笑自己。
16.disappointed
However，we get disappointed that we are fooling ourselves.
然而，我們很很失望啊，我們在愚弄自己！
17.determined
Our brother is determined that he should teach us something.
我們的哥哥下決心要給我們教訓了。
18.thankful
We are thankful that our brother wakes us up.
但是我們很感激的，哥哥把我們叫醒了.
