I wake filled with thoughts of you.或者I wake consumed with thoughts of you.這是直接從拿破崙寫給約瑟芬的情書中摘抄過來的。原文是法語，英語翻譯也有不少版本，以上兩個流傳比較廣泛。不瞭解這首詩的創作背景，但是朱生豪也許讀過拿破崙寫的情書，創作的時候交融了自己的感情與典故呢。
