      託福寫作的提高並非一日之功,複雜句式的使用當然更依賴大量的閱讀和考生不斷的練習,然而想要寫出比較好的從句其實也是需要有一定技巧的,就拿一位同學寫過的一篇作文來舉一個例子來看這道託福作文:

      Some people like to record their life by sharing pictures and other information on social networking sites. Others keep this information to themselves and never share it online. Which do you prefer?

      有一位同學其中一段的觀點是,透過在社交網站上分享個人資訊,人們可以更好的留存自己的記憶。其中例子部分他時這樣寫的:

      Last year is my parents" 20th anniversary of marriage. I gave them CDs and photos as gift. These CDs and photos are collected from their Facebook home pages. After receiving my gift, they were deeply impressed.

      可以看出這個段落犯了許多同學容易犯的問題——依然是簡單句的大量堆砌。然而想要把這段文字改正比較好的複合句,其實並不難首先我們要從每一句話在這個例子中所起的作用是什麼:

      Last year is my parents" 20th anniversary of marriage. 這句說的是時間發生的時間

      I gave them CDs and photos as gift. 這是整件事的核心。

      These CDs and photos are collected from their Facebook home pages. 這是對禮物的句子描述,也就是定語。

      After receiving my gift, they were deeply impressed. 這句說的是時間發生之後的結果。

      這樣分析就非常簡單了,只要把每一個部分起到的作用後面加上“從句”兩個字,這個句子的改寫方法就呼之欲出了。

      Last year is my parents" 20th anniversary of marriage.可以改成時間狀語從句,加上when

      I gave them CDs and photos as gift.不變

      These CDs and photos are collected from their Facebook home pages.可改成定語從句,加上which

      After receiving my gift, they were deeply impressed.可改成結果狀語從句,也可以選擇用非謂語動詞表示結果。

      把這些句子重新組合在一起,就可以這樣寫:

      For instance, when it comes to my parents" 20th anniversary of marriage last year, I gave them CDs and photos, which were collected from their Facebook home pages, as gift, impressing them deeply.

      由此我們可以看出只需要適當的修改,剛才還是簡單句的羅列現在已經成為了比較規範的複合句,自然這些句子還可以寫得更好,如可以選擇更貼切的詞彙,但對於許多還不習慣使用複合句的學生而言已經是符合ETS要求的規範的句式。
