1、談到聖誕節、新年、復活節和感恩節，如指整個節日，就用at。如：
We often go carolling at Christmas.我們在聖誕節常去唱頌歌。
We’re having the roof repaired at Easter.我們要在復活節期間找人把房頂修一修。
Some children make lanterns out of pumpkins at Hallowe’en.有些兒童在萬聖節前夕用南瓜做燈籠。
2、但如果指節日中的某一天，就用on。如：
Come and see us on Christmas Day.聖誕節那一天來玩兒吧。
What are you doing on Easter Monday?復活節第二天你幹什麼?
3、表示週末時，英華人說at the weekend，而美華人則說on the weekend。如：
What did you do at the weekend?你週末幹什麼了?
He likes to go climbing at weekends.他喜歡在週末做登山運動。
They like to go ballooning at weekends.他們週末喜歡乘氣球玩。
4、若強調是在整個期間，也可用during等。如：
Five thousand people were flown to Paris during the Easter weekend.在復活節的週末有五千人乘飛機去巴黎。
