管螺紋一般用英制來表示通徑，1英寸＝25.4毫米，1分＝1/8英寸＝3.175毫米；但是，由於管螺紋一般用英制來表示通徑，所以，實際大徑，中徑，小徑是比通徑要大。
公制螺紋與英制螺紋：
公制螺紋用螺距來表示，美英制螺紋用每英寸內的螺紋牙數來表示；

1）NPT是National(American)Pipe Thread的縮寫，屬於美國標準的60度錐管螺紋，用於北美地區，國標查閱GB/T12716-1991。
2）PT（BSPT）是Pipe Thread 的縮寫，是55度密封圓錐管螺紋，屬於惠氏螺紋家族，多用於歐洲及英聯邦國家，常用於水及煤氣管行業，錐度1:16，國標查閱GB/T7306-2000。國內叫法為ZG.。
3）G是55度非密封管螺紋，屬惠氏螺紋家族。標記為G代表圓柱螺紋。國標查閱GB/T7307-2001。
