兩者之間存在簡單的細微差異，只是概念大致相同，沒必要去細分。

【美】；令人神往、陶醉，身心感到愉悅。

【味】；口鼻所能夠感覺、感受到的甘、甜、苦、澀。

美味所指較為單一，簡單來說就是能夠滿足你的口腹之慾，對於食物的味道比較看重，不在乎外在表現。鮮、香、麻、辣代表了“味”！而“美”就是自己的感受。

好吃不一定好看！———美食代表的不止是味道，還有精神層面的感受，一道好的美食能夠讓人眼前一亮，發自內心的讓人感受到身心愉悅。

人們評判美食的標準通常是；色、香、味俱全，包含視覺享受、嗅覺享受、味覺享受。

在沒有食用之前“目光所及”感受到第一次的愉悅、好看，其次是香味撲鼻所帶來的第二次愉悅、好香，最後是入口之後味蕾上的愉悅、好吃，三種感覺層層遞進，達到整體的昇華。

美味指的是單一的感受，美食指整體。
