Microsoft近期釋出了Windows Storage Server 2008 R2（簡稱WSS2008 R2），與上一個版本Windows Storage Server 2008（簡稱WSS2008）相比，除了功能的改進之外，主要的是安裝方式的變化： 　　（1）WSS2008是一個單獨的產品，有自己的安裝映象、需要WSS2008產品序列號。 　　（2）WSS2008 R2，是Windows Server 2008 R2基礎之上的一個應用程式，沒有自己單獨的安裝映象，需要安裝在Windows Server 2008 R2上，使用對應的Windows Server 2008 R2的序列號即可。 　　WSS2008 R2，包括 Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Workgroup、Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Standard、Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Enterprise三個版本，其中前兩個版本需要安裝在Windows Server 2008 R2 標準版上，而Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Enterprise則需要安裝在Windows Server 2008 R2企業版上，不能將這三個產品安裝在Windows Server 2008 R2的Web版與Datacenter版本上。 　　Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 的所有三個版本中都支援以下功能： 　　ü iSCSI Software Target 3.3 　　ü 列印和文件服務 　　ü Windows 備份 　　ü Windows 搜尋 　　ü DHCP 伺服器 　　ü 網路檔案系統 (NFS) 　　ü 分散式檔案系統複製 (DFSR) 　　ü 檔案伺服器資源管理器 (FRSM) 　　WSS2008 R2的功能及指標如下： 　　2 安裝WSS2008 R2 　　WSS2008 R2的安裝比較簡單，我們以安裝Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Enterprise為例進行介紹，主要過程如下： 　　（1）安裝Windows Server 2008 R2企業版，並激活（當然也可以在安裝WSS2008 R2元件之後啟用） 　　（2）載入WSS2008 R2軟體包映象，並執行“Windows Storage Server 2008 R2”目錄中的“Windows6.1-KB982050-x64-EnterpriseBranding.MSU”元件（這是WSS2008企業版元件）， 　　（3）載入iSCSI_Software_Target_33.iso映象，執行其中的“iscsitarget.msi”程式，這是“Microsoft iSCSI Software Target”程式。 　　在WSS2008 R2的安裝光碟中，還有一些補丁與程式，大家可以根據需要安裝。
