    take up doing 開始做;開始做某事

    set out on doing 著手做,

    意思是一樣的,用法區別:take up是口語用法,相對比較隨意,set out on是書面語用法,相對比較正規;

    舉例一:

    Remember, the best mentors are busy people, and they may be opposed to someone trying to take up a lot of their time.

    切記,最優秀的導師通常都非常忙碌,所以,如果有人佔用他們太多的時間,肯定會引起他們的反感。

    舉例二:

    I know how busy you must be and naturally I wouldn"t want to take up too much of your time.

    我知道您肯定特別忙,我當然不想佔用您太多的時間。

    舉例三:

    He got up at four and set out on foot to hunt black grouse.

    他4點鐘起了床,徒步出發去獵殺黑琴雞。

    舉例四:

    Four of the most powerful men in Russia set out on a top-secret mission.

    俄羅斯最有勢力的四個人身懷絕密任務出發了。
