一、作介詞時，along意為“沿著”：
1.Many trees were planted along the river-bank.沿著河岸種植了許多樹。
2.The Chinese people are pressing ahead along the socialist road.華人民正沿著社會主義道路奮勇前進。
3.There are trees all along the road.沿著這條路從頭到尾都有樹。
二、作副詞時along意為“向前”，常與動詞或介詞with連用，構成一些常用片語。例如：
1.Let us walk along.讓我們向前步行。
2.she will send it back along with some other things.她將此物與其他東西一併送回。
3.The mechanization of agriculture will raise to the output, and, along with it, the living standard of the peasants.農業機械化將提高產量，同時也將提高農民的生活水平。
4.He gets along very well with us.他和我們相處很好。
5.How are you getting along?你好嗎？
6.How is she getting along with her work?她工作進展如何？
7.I knew that all along.對那件事我一開始就知道。
