一、分清本義與引申義
1.用於本義
as well as用於本義，可視為as…as結構與well的自然搭配，其意為“與……一樣好”，在否定句中可用notso well as代替not as well as。如：
He speaks English as well asshe.他說英語說得跟她一樣好。
She plays every bit as well asthe men.她打得一點不比男人們差。
He doesn’t play half so well ashis sister.他演奏的水平不及他姐姐的一半。
He sings as well as.if not bet-ter than，Mary.他要是唱歌不比瑪麗唱得更好，但至少也是一樣好。
2.用於引申義
用於引申義，表示“不但……而且”“既是……也是”“而且”“還”。如：
He grows flowers aS well asvegetables.他既種菜也種花。
She shares(in)my troubles aswell as my joys.她與我同甘共苦。
They have a flat in town as wellas in the Country.他們在城裡有一套公寓，在鄉村還有一所房子。
注：有時還可譯為“除……之外，還”，與besides，in addition to的用法相似。如：
As well aS learning to swim hehas been taking Spanish lessons thissummer.今年夏天，他除了學習游泳外，他還在上西班牙語課。
二、把握主謂一致
當as well as連線兩個成分作主語時，其後謂語的單複數形式通常要與前面一個主語保持一致。如：
Tom as well as his parents is going to London.湯姆和他的父母要去倫敦。
The captain，as well as the other players，was tired.隊長和其他隊員都累了。
但是，有時即使as well as前面一個成分為單數，其後的謂語也可能用複數，尤其是當as well as後面一個成分比較長且該結構沒有用逗號隔開時。如：
