1969年卡朋特兄妹正式以“Carpenters”為名推出了他們的首張專輯《Offering》，其中一首Beatles的老歌“Ticket to Ride”在經過他們的翻唱之後大受歡迎，也因此打開了他們的知名度，各地的電臺也紛紛播出全新版本的Ticket to Ride。

1970年6月，“Carpenters”的第二張專輯“Close To You”上市並且發行，沒過多長時間主打單曲“Close To You”就登上了排行榜的冠軍寶座，還蟬聯了四個星期。鑑於在這張專輯中的突出表現，卡朋特兄妹因此獲得了該年度格萊美“最佳新人”、“最佳流行合唱團體”兩項大獎。
