這2個詞都有"上升、升起"的意思,但詞性、具體含義和使用情況不同。
◆ rise（過去式rose，過去分詞risen） ，含義為: 升起，上升；（金額﹑數量或強度的）增加。①作不及物動詞:The sun rose at seven o"clock.太陽七點鐘升起
the price of pork rises 豬肉價格上漲了
②作名詞:the rise and fall of the British Empire 大英帝國的興衰

rise是不及物動詞，沒有被動語態。因此我們說thesunrisesup.太陽昇起來了。用的是這個詞的主動語態。表示主語本身的動作
raise是及物動詞，意思很多。有撫養、舉起等意思。它在表示舉起時，是舉起另一個東西，因為它及物，所以我們這樣用：heraisesitup.他把它舉起來了。雖然也是主語發出的動作但作用物件是其他。

這兩個詞作為動詞最根本的區別是，rise是不及物動詞，而arise是及物動詞。也就是說，使用的時候，rise後面不用跟賓語，而arise後面一定要有賓語。例如：
Heraisedhisarmsabovehishead.他把手臂舉過頭頂。
toraisesalaries,toraisetherent提高工資，提高租金
Thesunroseatseveno"clock.太陽七點鐘升起。
Theriverisrisingaftertherain.雨後河水漲了。
當然這兩個詞除了提高、升高、抬起等意思外都各自還有其它的用法。例如
