英語句子主語與謂語通常有兩種語序，一種是主語位於謂語之前即自然語序，另一種是謂語位於主語之前即倒裝語序。把整個謂語置於主語前叫全部倒裝，把複合謂語的一部分(助動詞或情態動詞)置於主語之前叫部分倒裝。
一、部分倒裝
①在疑問句
Can you spell the word for me?
②否定詞位於句首
No sooner had she gone out than a student came to visit her.
Only by increasing the number of doctors by 50 percent can the patient be treated properly in this hospital.
④so加狀語位於句首
So loudly did the students read their lessons that people could hear them out in the field.
⑤as引導的讓步狀語從句
Child as he is, he has to make a living on his own.（表語提到主語前面）
⑥虛擬語氣中從句if省略
Had he spent more time practicing speaking English before, he would be able to speak it much better now.
二、全部倒裝
①用於現存句型中
At the top of the hill there stands an old temple.
②狀語置於句首，謂語表示行動去向的動詞
Out rushed a tiger from among the bushes.
Among the crises that face humans is the lack of natural resources.
