lived是一般過去式

I lived in Beijing. 我以前住在北京。

lives是一般現在時第三人稱單數

He lives in Beijing. 他住在北京。

was living是過去進行時

I was living in a small town.我以前住在一個小鎮上。一般來說有點強調過去的意味。

will live是一般將來時

I will live in Beijing.

我將會住在北京。

He appears to be living in the area.為什麼be後用living而不是live

這個問題屬於非謂語動詞的時態問題。

to live 往往表示未發生或者待發生的動作；而to be living表示正在進行的動作。我們既可以說he appears to be living in the area,也可以說He appears to live in the area.但是前句表示”他似乎就住在這個地方“，而後者則表示”他似乎要來這個地方居住“，請準確把握非謂語動詞的時態。

live和living有什麼區別？

1.living主要用作定語，修飾人或物均可；living前加the可用作複數名詞，意為“活著的人”。

例如：The living things refers to plants, animals and so on. 生物指的是植物、動物等。

The living are the happiest. 活著的人最幸福。

注意：living主要說明“尚在人間”、“健在”這一現在的情況。

如： Is your grandfather still living?你爺爺還健在嗎？

2.live可用作定語。

例如：

Don’t touch it, it’s a live snake. 別碰它，它是一條活蛇。

Only a few live trees were left after the fire. 火災之後，只剩下幾棵樹還活著。

注意：live作定語，一般多與表示物的名詞連用
