我覺得整部電影的亮點就是影片最後，伊桑·霍克站上課桌喊起那句“o,captain,my captain!”，然後所有的學生都站在了桌子上。

“金融，工程，建築，計算，固然很重要，那是我們生存的條件;但詩歌，浪漫，愛，是我們生而為人的原因。 ”

既然說到了《死亡詩社》那麼最關鍵的就是詩啦！

1.啊,船長!我的船長!(惠特曼)

啊船長!我的船長

Oh, Captain, my Captain

基丁老師在第一堂課上所說的第一句詩,引用自美國詩人沃爾特·惠特曼為林肯寫的一首詩,收錄在《草葉集》"紀念林肯總統”一章中,其中有名的還有另一首紀念詩《最近紫丁香在前院開放的時侯》。惠特曼的人生哲學中自始至終堅持不變的信念是美國式的民主主義。他在1863年的一封信中這樣評價林肯:“我有時認為他表現了一種神奇的機智,使船隻始終漂浮,船首沉穩,而且精神浩然堅定,在世界而前旗幟飄揚。”《啊船長我的船長》這首詩基調悲壯,把當時的鬥爭比作一段艱險的航程。

基丁老師一開始就說,如果有膽量的話,你們可以加我船長。電影的一開頭選擇這首詩其實就意味深長:

2致少女:珍惜時光(羅伯特·赫裡克)

羅伯特赫裡克有名的一首抒情詩,第四節有些守舊,前三節很不錯,意境大概和中國古詩“有花堪折直須折,莫待無花空折枝。”一句類似。“及時行樂”、“惜取少年時”、“有花堪折直須折”種種勸告真的非常在理,因為晝短苦夜長,何不秉燭遊啊。

To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may

Old Time is still a-flying

And this same flower that smiles to-day

To-morrow will be dying

4瓦爾登湖(梭羅)

死亡詩社每次開會前都會引用梭羅的一段話,而這段話也寫在了因反抗父權而自殺的 Neil Perry的書上。死亡詩社創社之初也是 Neil Perryi讀的這段開幕詞,對比之下不禁唏噓不已！

梭羅和《瓦爾登湖》本身就是一個純淨的童話,具有沉靜的力量和生命本真的活力:

went to the woods because i wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if i could not learn what it had to teach and not, when I came to die, discover that i had not lived. 7我自己的歌(惠特曼)

一位學生因為害怕不敢寫詩時,基丁老師用這句詩來鼓勵他。仍然是惠特曼《草葉集》中的詩歌一一《我自己的歌》。這是其中的第五十二小節,要站在世界屋脊上,喊出我內心野性的狂叫。

我自己的歌

那蒼鷹從我身旁掠過而且責備我,他怪我饒舌,又怪我遲遲留著不走。

我也一樣一點都不馴順,我也一樣不可翻譯 我在世界的屋脊上發出了粗野的喊叫聲。

8未選擇的路(羅伯特弗羅斯特)

《未選擇的路》是我很喜歡的一首詩,“也許多少年後在某個地方,我將輕聲嘆息把往事回顧,一片樹林裡分出兩條路,而我選了人跡更少的一條,從此決定了我一生的道路。”我更願意相信,這首詩不是說要選擇人跡更少的路,而是對選擇本身的堅定。無關善惡的選擇沒有對錯,多年以後回想,可能會輕輕感嘆,但卻從不後悔當初的抉擇。

And sorry I could not travel both

死亡詩社開會時,男生用來讚美女生的詩歌,他雖然騙說是自己寫的,但其實是莎士比亞的《你的長夏永不凋謝》。女生可真好騙,不過這種恭維對一般人來說是很有逼格的。

《仲夏夜之夢》雖然不是純粹的詩,但句子美如詩歌,前面把散文《瓦爾登湖》列出來了,這裡提幾句也無傷大雅。節選一些有趣的段落吧:
