Sometimes we use phrases, and sometimes we use the other one. The meaning is almost the same.

Such as:

"breakfast" is a word.

"have breakfast" is a phrase or an expression.

"I have breakfast at home every morning" is a sentence.

"Breakfast is very important. So I have breakfast at home. And I cook very healthy food for breakfast. Healthy food makes me very healthy." is a paragraph
