1、不管是什麼假，都可以用這樣的結構：take ...days off ，或 take...days leave ，就是請幾天假的意思。

比如，take a day off ，請一天假。

take a day leave ，同義。

如果你要和上司請假，當然得委婉一些，可以這樣說： I was wondering if i could take a day off because + 你的原因。

在和你上級，長者說話的時候，如果你想表達，你的意願，不要用want，非常沒禮貌！

最好的說法是：I was thinking / wondering if i could + 你想要做的事，用中文來理解就是，我在想我能不能？

只有這樣說，你才不會被打~

2、各種假期怎麼說？

病假=sick leave

公假=offcial leave

事假=personal leave

婚假=marriage leave

比如，同事問你怎麼上週沒來上班，就可以回答：I was on sick leave for 5 days . （還可以用 official leave , personal leave , marriage leave ，看你的情況）

3、其他一些短語，固定搭配

請假=ask for leave

請假中=on leave

請假單=leave request form

批准假=grant leave

打電話請假=call in sick

記住這幾個片語，就能搞定所有請假事項啦。

怎麼樣，學會了嗎？

涉及“請假”的英語學習對學習者容易遇到的一個學習問題是，不是不能學習和記住“請假”的英語表達，而是，這些“英語呈現”的方式有所不妥：太雜亂零碎，也就是“知識不能脈絡結構化”。學著記著，沒過多久腦子又是“一鍋漿糊”，哪跟哪分不清，更別說流利使用了。所以，學習英語“請假”話題，不是知識本身的問題，是學習方式要注意，以利於我們學習，日後還能有清晰的脈絡。

其實，我們想象，“請假”其實就是“人力資源部門”常規管理中的常態問題，我們完全可以按照Human Resourcrs Dept.的“思路”和“脈絡”系統的學習掌握英語的“請假”表達，所謂“綱舉目張”：

1. 首先：Well, we call it Absence From Work if you are away from your work ,or at your job at your work time.

這就是“綱”，所有的“請假”上面還有一種“統稱”：Absence from work（不在崗）.

2. 其次，“不在崗”的分類：

We have two types of Absence from Work：

The excused leave(of absence) ,and

The unexcused leave.

Absence from work(不在崗)主要有兩大類：excused leave(獲得批准的請假) and unexcused leave(未獲得批准的離崗，即曠工)。

這樣“理順”“請假”脈絡，思路就清晰了。

3. 在美國，an excused leave, or leave of absence主要分為：

Well, an excused leave, or leave of absence incluedes：

3a. sick time, sick time off, or sick leave, or sick leave of absence.

“病假”，這是最常見的excused leave了，一般老闆employer都會批准(excuse it, extend it to him, or grant it).

3b. personal time, or personal time off.

personal time不能簡單理解為“事假”，美國並無“籠統”的“事假”一說，“假”全部有詳細歸類說明的，雖然跟“事假”很相似。

比如，你剛剛完成一項重大專案，累壞了，想休息調整心身，想have a few days off，你就可以請這種personal time off，不是請“在家照看生病小孩”之類的“事假”。

為公司付出累趴了的“假”，叫personal time off.

3c. Family and Medical Leave 家事家人生病照看假

這就是我們籠統稱之的“事假”。其中包括：

3c1：maternity leave 產假

3c2：paternity leave 生孩子父親陪護假

3c3：leave for caring for a close family member who is in ill health

家人生病陪護假

3c4：medical leave 生病住院假

4. bereavement or sympathy leave 白喜事假

5. Jury Duty 法庭出庭事假

6. Military Leave 兵役假

7. vacation days 工休假（本問題說“公休假”疑為“工休假”之誤。“公休假”即public holiday，是不需要“請假”的）。

除了上述excused leave of absence之外，所有的absence from work，不在崗，就叫an unexcused absences，曠工、曠課！

理清了keave of absence的種類，剩下的就是“如何請假”的英語表達了。你要弄清楚你請的是哪種假，人力資源部不是吃“乾飯”的，一句“事假”就完事了？

How are you going to ask for leave?

We can ask for leave of absence(for time off, for a few days off都可以，不過，leave of absence用詞最“人力資源部化”)：

1.I can ask for a few days off/time off. 可以請假，可以是：

1a. I can call in sick 電話請假（口頭請假）

1b. I can submit a leave of absence letter.書面請假

最後，就是老闆employer的事了，他可以：

Your employer may or may not excuse your leave, or may or may not extend the leave to you, or may or may not grant your leave.

都是批假或不批假的英語用詞。

這樣來理順英語“請假”的表達，就不會“見子打子”的學習英語“請假”了，也容易記。

請假 ask for leave (day off)
