當比較同質事物時，或者比如顏色長短等某項屬性時，一般常用 the same as；當前一句話說了一個事情後，後面要說這種情況對與某人也是一樣的時候，則一般用the same with，句中的it指的就是那句話中所提到的情形。
順帶一句，the same with可用於倒裝，而 the same as就不可以這麼用。我們可以說 With Mary, it was the same. 而不說As Mary, it was the same.
