1、意思不同

cannot(一個單詞)是縮寫can't的展開形式，意思是不可以。

而can not意思是可以不。

2、使用場景不同

cannot用於書面語，較為正式。

例如：If this can be tolerated, what cannot?

是可忍也，孰不可忍也？

而can not用於口語，比較隨便。

例如：I can not give the actual figures.

我不能舉出實際數字。

3、使用形式不同

can not 用於強調，當not被用於強調時，這時是需要考慮用can not而不是cannot。

例如：I can not tolerate laziness！

一、cannot

1、和too的搭配用法

cannot …too… "不可能把某事做過頭；決不會…太"，與can never…too同義。

例如：

But cannot too inflexible, because this play is comedic style.

但又不能太刻板，因為這部戲是喜劇風格。

2、cannot but

後面加動詞原形、動名詞等，都表示“禁不住，不由得，不得不，不能不”的意思。

例如：I cannot help admiring the picture whenever I look at it.

不管什麼時候看到這幅畫，我都禁不住要讚賞它。

二、can not

can not but + 動詞原形，意思是不能不；不得不；只好；卻不能不；那麼你就不能不。

例如：

We can not but allow you200 cases

since inquiries are so large.

我們只能給你們200箱因為詢盤很多。
