翠玉錄原文翻譯：

　　這裡的英文版有說是20世紀初由一些拉丁文研究學者根據一份12世紀拉丁文手稿譯出，也有說是科學家、鍊金家牛頓的翻譯。

　　1. 當我走進洞穴，我看到了一塊翠玉，上面寫著字，那是從赫爾墨斯的雙手間被書寫出來。從那裡我發現了以下這些文字：

　　2. 真實不虛，永不說謊，必然帶來真實：

　　this true without lying, certain & most true:

　　3. 下如同上，上如同下；依此成全太一的奇蹟。

　　that which is below is like that which is above and that which is above is like that which is below to do ye miracles of one only thing.

　　4. 萬物本是太一，藉由分化從太一創造出來。

　　and as all things have been and arose from one by ye mediation of one: so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation.

　　翠玉錄開篇提出了大宇宙和小宇宙的呼應關係，這是鍊金術宇宙觀的核心。《墨子》提出一個類似的說法“上同下比”，但墨子的意思是人的思想行為要比照天、比照神明，順應天道。赫耳墨斯的意思則是，理念、宇宙、自然這個大宇宙，跟個人、心靈、靈魂這個小宇宙是一種一體、和諧、對映的關係，利用鍊金的轉變過程將性靈從物質中解放出來，既重造物質、又重塑心靈，將可重現宇宙太一亦即道、“一切萬有”創造的奇蹟。太一創造的方式就是新柏拉圖主義的“發散”說法，就是從一個一體而充盈的最高實在，象太陽放射光芒一樣層層分化出了理性、靈魂和物質世界，而無損於太一的圓滿。

　　the sun is its father, the moon its mother, the wind hath carried it in its belly, the earth its nourse.

翠玉錄》（Emerald Tablet）是關於鍊金術最早的記載，也是鍊金術重要的文獻之一...

公元前1900年，埃及法老赫耳墨斯以及他傳說中的父親透特神（Toth)以及赫爾墨斯的大兒子大祭祀塔特（Tat）三人合為一體，成為人們傳說中的“赫爾墨斯神“。

這三位一體的神將鍊金術的知識濃縮為13句話，雕刻在一塊祖母綠寶石板上，這就是聞名於世的翠玉錄...

Separate thou ye earth from ye fire, ye subtile from the gross sweetly wth great indoustry.

8. 從地昇天，又從天而降，獲得其上、其下之能力。

It ascends from ye earth to ye heaven & again it desends to ye earth and receives ye force of things superior & inferior.

9. 如此可得世界的榮耀、遠離黑暗矇昧。

By this means you shall have ye glory of ye whole world & thereby all obscurity shall fly from you.

10. 此為萬力之力，摧堅拔韌。

Its force is above all force, for it vanquishes every subtile thing & penetrates every solid thing.

11.世界即如此創造，依此可達奇蹟。

So was ye world created. From this are & do come admirable adaptations whereof ye process is here in this.

12.我被稱為三重偉大的赫爾墨斯，因我擁有世界三部分的智慧。

Hence I am called Hermes Trismegist, having the three parts of ye philosophy of ye whole world.

13.這就是我所說的偉大工作。

That which I have said of ye operation of ye Sun is accomplished & ended.

1. 真實不虛，永不說謊，必然帶來真實：

2.下如同上，上如同下；依此成全太一的奇蹟。

3.萬物本是太一，藉由分化從太一創造出來。
