suggest v.

（1）to put forward an idea or a plan for other people to think about建議，提議

如：I suggest （that）we go out to eat.

我提議我們出去吃吧。

It has been suggested that bright children should take their exams early.

有人提天資好的孩子提前考試。

（2）to tell somebody about a suitable person, thing, method, etc. for a particular job or purpose推薦，舉薦

如：Can you suggest how I might contact him?

（3）to put an idea into somebody's mind; to make sb. think that sth. is true使想到，使認為，表明

如：All the evidence suggests he did something good.

It is good to suggest that there are nice aspects of people.

（4）to state something indirectly言下之意

如：Are you suggesting （that） I'm good?

你言下之意是說我很好？

1，suggest表暗示或表明時，賓語從句時態要和主句對應。

例如，他蒼白的臉色表明他生病了，應該馬上去看醫生。

His pale face siggested that he was ill and should see a doctor at once.

2，suggest 表建議時，賓語從句謂語動詞用動詞原形/not do或should (not )do

醫生建議他儘早戒菸限酒。

The doctor suggested that he quit smoking as soon as possible and limit his drinking.

suggest that引導賓語從句。

若suggest表示“建議”，則其後接的that從句謂語通常用“(should)+動詞原形”這樣的虛擬語氣形式。
