來自英國的喬恩·福爾曼（Jon Foreman）在大學期間第一次接觸大地藝術（Land Art）後就立即狂熱地愛上了它。

福爾曼認為自然世界中還有太多值得探索的地方，比如他所居住的威爾士（Wales）彭布羅克郡（Pembrokeshire）。這裡有著漫長而寬闊的海岸線，在海邊有數不清的石頭，從微小的鵝卵石到大塊的石頭應有盡有。他利用這些天然的石頭擺放出的造型總是令人著迷，更令海邊的遊客們驚歎不已。

福爾曼說：“雖然我可以使用更多的天然材料創造作品，但事實證明，石材是我能最好地操縱的材料，無論是它的顏色、角度、形狀、大小、位置以及間距。”

事實上，在創作每件作品之前，他僅僅有一個粗略的構想，有時甚至是一無所知、毫無想法，在創作的過程也難免迷失方向，不過，最終的成果總是令人興奮的！
