A. 定語從句

在英語中，修飾名詞或代詞的從句叫定語從句，被修飾的名詞或代詞叫先行詞，引導定語從句的詞叫關係詞，關係詞包括關係代詞（that\which\who\whom etc.）和關係副詞（where\when\why）,其中關係代詞that,which,who在從句中即可作主語，也可做賓語，作賓語時可以省略。

知識要點：

以下情況中關係代詞只能用：that

(1) 當先行詞被序數詞或形容詞最高階修飾時，如：

The first place that we visited in Beijing was the Great Wall.

It’s the most beautiful music that I’ve listened to.

(2) 當先行詞是：anything\everything\something\none\little\few 等不定代詞時，如：

Whenever she sees something that her mom likes, Nancy buys it.

(3) 當先行詞被all\every\any\no\little\much等詞修飾時，如：

I want to read all the books that were written by Lu Xun.

(4) 當先行詞既有人，又有物時，如：

I’ll always remember the village and the people that we visited last year.

(5) 當關系代詞緊跟在介詞後作賓語時，只能用whom或which. 如：

Students for whom English is a second language will take the course.

Is this the film in which Jackie Chan plays the leading role?

(6) 當主句是以：who\what\which開頭的特殊疑問句時，如：

Who is the person that is making this lecture?

B. Prefer 的用法

prefer :更喜歡，更喜愛，相當於：like…better，常見用法如下：

prefer+n\pron. 更喜歡……

prefer to do sth.\prefer doing sth.更喜歡做某事

e.g. She prefers to travel\traveling by train.

prefer sth. to sth. 比起……更喜歡……

e.g. He preferred dogs to cats when he was a child.

prefer doing…to doing…比起做……更喜歡做……

e.g. She prefers surfing to running.

prefer to do…rather than do…寧願做……而不願做……

=would rather do ……than do……

e.g. I would rather stay at home than go to the party.

=I prefer to stay at home rather than go to the party.
