hotpot ≠ 火鍋

如果你在國外點餐說："I'd like a hotpot."，服務員會給你端一份連鍋的土豆洋蔥燉肉，類似大雜鍋。火鍋的英文應該是hot pot，中間是分開的，如果你怕說錯，可以用chaffy dish。

This Sichuan hot pot really works up my appetite.

這個四川火鍋真是吃得我胃口大開。

soup pot ≠ 清湯鍋

身邊總有一位不吃辣的朋友，吃火鍋必點一個鴛鴦鍋鍋，一邊麻辣一邊清湯，但soup pot是平時用來煲湯的鍋，並沒有清湯鍋的意思，清湯鍋的正確表達是plain broth。

What kind of broth shall we order? There are three choices on the menu: plain, spicy, or"Yuanyang" style.

我們點哪種鍋底呢？選單上說有清湯、麻辣和鴛鴦三種鍋底。

no spicy ≠ 不辣

“辣”在英文不僅能用spicy，還能用hot。

spicy和hot的區別：

hot：熱的、辣的。

hot指普通的辣，但更側重於熱的感受。

spicy：辛辣的、多香料的。

spicy偏向於辛辣，比hot的程度更深、更接近辣。而且spicy不僅僅表示味道辣，它也可以表示氣味的刺激、辛辣。

所以不辣的正確表達是not spicy。
