12月19日上午，中國國家航天局在北京舉行探月工程嫦娥五號任務月球樣品交接儀式。在交接儀式活動現場，國家航天局局長張克儉向中國科學院院長侯建國移交了嫦娥五號樣品容器，交接了樣品證書。

這標誌著嫦娥五號任務由工程實施階段正式轉入科學研究新階段，為中國首次地外天體樣品儲存、分析和研究工作拉開序幕。

Lunar samples, weighing a total of 1,731 grams, were officially handed over to the ground applications system on Saturday, initiating relevant work on storage, analysis, and research of the samples brought back by the return capsule of China's Chang'e-5 probe.

經初步測量，嫦娥五號任務採集月球樣品約1731克。

目前，月球樣品已安全進入中科院國家天文臺月球樣品實驗室。地面應用系統的科研人員將按計劃進行月球樣品的儲存、製備和處理，並啟動科研工作。

The handover ceremony, held at the China National Space Administration (CNSA) in Beijing, was joined by more than 80 experts from China's space industry and the Chang'e-5 lunar exploration project, who witnessed the official handover of the lunar samples by the CNSA to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

國家航天局後續將公開發布嫦娥五號任務月球樣品管理辦法和相關管理政策，組織樣品管理工作、協調推進樣品科學研究，鼓勵國內外更多科學家參與，力爭獲得更多科學成果，同時開展任務相關公眾科普和文化交流。

11月24日，嫦娥五號探測器發射入軌，經歷地月轉移、近月制動、兩兩分離、平穩落月、鑽表取樣、月面起飛、交會對接及樣品轉移、環月等待、月地轉移、再入回收等階段，在軌工作23天后，返回器攜帶月球樣品於12月17日在內蒙古四子王旗預定區域著陸，任務取得圓滿成功。此後，嫦娥五號返回器安全運抵北京，完成了開艙及相關處理工作，科研人員順利取出了月球樣品容器。

China launched the Chang'e-5 probe on November 24. After 23 days of in-orbit work, the returner of the probe carrying lunar samples landed in the planned area of Siziwang Banner in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on December 17. It was then airlifted to Beijing, where scientific personnel successfully removed the lunar sample container after related processing work.
