二者都表示“呆在學校” stay in school強調在學習裡。不一定求學 stay at school強調呆在學校求學

有很多動詞會和at連用，平時注意總結．例如：
arriveat抵達，callat訪問某地，catchat（it）當場抓住，comeat攻擊，fireat向…開火，glanceat瞟一眼，glareat怒目而視，grieveat憂傷，knockat敲，laughat嘲笑，lookat看一眼，pullat拉扯，rejoiceat對…高興，smileat向某人微笑，shootat朝…射擊，stareat怒目而視，thrustat刺向，tearat撕，trembleat顫抖，wonderat吃驚，workat工作．
stay at school即留在學校。
如果是還在上學期間的stay at school，是指留在學校這個建築當中，還可以說是stay in school.
如果是另一個語境下的stay at school，Robert is going to leave school and start work, but Peter is going to stay at school.這裡的意思是繼續深造或是留在學校工作，那麼就可以說，Go on further study或者be assigned to work at one's alma mater。
