1. 介詞onto 的基本用法
①（與動詞連用，表示朝某處或某位置運動）向，朝, 到…之上, 如:
Move the books onto the second shelf.
把書移到第二層架子上。
She stepped down from the train onto the platform.
她走下火車來到站臺上。
He put the magazines onto the table.
他把雜志放在桌子上。
Alice put the plates onto the shelf in the cupboard.
愛麗絲把碗放在碗櫃的架子上。
The players emerged onto the field.
運動員入場了。
I took my bags inside, lowered myself onto the bed and switched on the TV.
我把我的包拿進去，坐到了床上，打開了電視。
The players jogged onto the field.
運動員們慢慢跑進賽場。
比較:
onto 在意上相當於 to+on，即表示某物向另一物運動(to)，然後停落在另一物之上(on)。使用時兩者常可換用。
如：
He jumped onto (on to) the horse.
他跳上馬。
He put the dictionary onto(on to) the desk.
他把字典放到桌上。
注意:
但以下情況的 on to 不能合寫為一詞(onto)：
1)on 為副詞時。如：
We must walk on to the next village.
我們必須繼續走路去下一個村莊。
Pass this on to the next person after signing it.
簽名之後請把它傳給下一位。
2)on 後的 to 為不定式符號時。如：
He went on to tell us an interesting story.
接著他給我們講了個有趣的故事。
He had to hang on to avoid being washed overboard.
為了不至於被衝入水裡，他只好緊緊抓住不放。
